We live in some strange times. I guess there have always been people who are famous just for being famous and really do nothing to contribute to society. However, these days, with everyone having a camera or video recorder on their cell phone and people with constant access to things like Twitter and the internet, it seems like everyone is truly famous for fifteen minutes. Sadly, those fifteen minutes are not timed out very well.
The list of people who are famous for no reason and for possessing no discernable talent right now is staggering. The two biggest losers on this area right now are Heidi Montag and her douche bag husband Spencer. Together they are often referred to as Speidi because, well, if you are a celebrity couple, you have to have a stupid nickname for the two of you.
Never have two people with so little talent, even fewer brains, nothing to say and nothing to contribute to the world achieved so much. In a way, you almost have to admire them. It was as if the two of them one day looked at each other and said, geez, we have nothing going on except some half-way decent looks. We cannot write. We are not smart. We have no education. We have no business skills. I guess we should just try to tell people they should want to be around us and if we tell them convincingly enough maybe people will buy it.
I guess they got their start on that show that is the breeding ground for the stupid, vacuous and talentless, The Hills. I have never watched a complete episode. Four seconds of a bunch of youngsters sitting around a pool saying “like” and acting like their lives are so difficult is enough to make me lose my lunch. For some reason this show has achieved a kind of popularity. It isn’t really a reality TV show, but then again, it isn’t exactly a scripted drama.
Somehow these two idiots have managed to parlay that into some kind of money-making venture. This has to be due to their agents and handlers as neither of them have two brain cells to rub together to create a spark of creativity. Before long they were being paid huge amounts of money just to show up at clubs and make their appearance there. Yes, they make a living going to clubs.
They continue to appear on that TV show on MTV. The most recent news is that these two black holes of knowledge may try to conceive. Unless we are allowed in the bedroom to see the actual conception, I cannot imagine anything more terrifying. I cannot imagine Speidi as parents. If ever there was an argument for selective breeding it would have to be these two.
So, for those of you with limited education and no real goal in life, you need not despair. You just need to convince the world that everyone should care about you. Maybe you need to start some kind of video blog. Apparently those of us trying to achieve some notoriety and fame through actual work and by producing something are going about this all wrong.
